2019 Challenge Quilt
Once again a challenge has been issued to members to create a quilt to display at the quilt show for our Challenge. Rules have been established and any quilt entered that does not follow the rules will be disqualified. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded. Here's the Rules:
Theme: Monochromatic Kaleidoscope
(definition of kaleidoscope: phantasmagoria,display, mixture, medley, complex pattern, changing scene, series, web)
1. Select one color from one ray on the raffle quilt. You may use several values, shades, or tones of that color. If it is a print, it should read as a solid. A neutral background may also be used.
2. Use "shiny"or jewel tones. Think sparkle, embellishments, etc. Think about looking through an actual kaleidoscope.
3. Size: 24" x 24" - no exceptions
4. Please create a brief artist statement about your inspiration and/or process for creating your quilt. It will be typed up for you for the display.
5. Submit in brown paper bag at the August 2019 business meeting (Aug 6, 2019)
6. Voting by members only will take place at the September business meeting (Sept 3, 2019)
Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places as voted on by members of the guild present at the September business meeting. Winner will be announced at the 2019 quilt show.
The challenge was met by 11 members! Here is a sneak peek at the stunning quilts that were turned in. Voting was done by members at the September business meeting. Winners will be announced at the opening of the show! So please come to enjoy these quilts up close.
